On her glittering new single ‘Dry’, the Toronto musician infuses jazz, blues and soul into timeless synergy. Her voice is simple sumptuous, with the depth and complexity far beyond her twenty-one years., as does her view on life. ‘Dry’ is a love song to the self, as Maddee explains, “It’s about trying to escape the feeling of loneliness but realising it’s perhaps better just to face it head on,” and moreover “It’s also about realising my value in a relationship and what I'm ultimately worth and willing to give.” We can expect to hear more of these introspective musings in the upcoming Red Mind EP, which further pulls apart the emotions of a negative relationship to reveal the wisdom of coming through love, infatuation and naivety. - Hannah Thacker
